Gaeilgeorí

The Gaeilgeorí are an amazing people who greatly value community and tradition. They have withstood the ravages of oppression, discrimination, and poverty all the while holding on to their native Gaelic language.

Irish Gaelic is not related to English in any way. It is an ancient Celtic language that has been spoken by Gaeilgeorí in Ireland for thousands of years.

Although Irish speakers can be found worldwide there are around 1.6 million people claiming to speak Irish Gaelic in Ireland. In fact, there are whole communities where Irish Gaelic is the first language spoken.

God is doing a new work among Irish speakers.

Economic and cultural changes across Ireland have opened up new Doors for the Gospel. Not since the time of Patrick has the mission field among Irish Speakers been so open and ready for the Gospel to be sown.

God is working and blessing the Gaeilgeorí. Please join us in praying that God would do a new work among these amazing people!

Praise God for the ongoing peace in Ireland! Please pray that God would continue to bless the people of Ireland and that the barriers of hatred and bigotry would be torn down between Catholics and Protestants.

Praise God that the New Testament has just been reprinted in Irish Gaelic. We thank God for answering countless prayers over the past few years. Please pray that God would continue to bless people by His word, and that it would be distributed in a way that people would openly receive it.

Pray that the void left by people leaving the Catholic Church would be filled by a real personal relationship with Christ.

Pray that God would continue to stir people’s hearts and call them unto Himself. Pray that the Gaeilgeorí would no longer try and fill the void in their lives with materialism, but rather would desire to know the Truth and desire Freedom.
